Good Chaos

The client gave us just one design directive for this 2,000 square-foot office…but it was very good one: 90 percent of the materials and finishes used were to be made or produced by local artists and craftspeople, the majority of whom must be women, BIPOC, and/or LGBTQ+. We commissioned more than 50 artists and artisans to create pieces for the space - from the floor tile to the light fixtures, millwork to furniture upholstery. The result is a delightfully maximalist visual harmony,

All this attention to form did not detract from the office’s function. The workspace seamlessly merges creativity, productivity, and an emphasis on employee well-being . The layout ingeniously balances collaboration and focus, with separate zones dedicated to both collaborative projects and individual tasks. One standout feature is the incorporation of sound-proof calm rooms, providing employees with retreat spaces for focused work or moments of respite. The open kitchen concept fosters a sense of community during shared meals and snacks and adds a touch of homeliness to the professional environment. Natural light floods every room, creating an uplifting and energizing atmosphere, while the abundance of greenery, with dozens of plants strategically placed throughout the space, brings the outdoors inside, contributing to a healthier and more vibrant work environment.
